Lending to the Lord!

Prov 19:17 says ... "He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD ,
and he will reward him for what he has done." God takes on the plight of the poor and oppressed. He feels their pain and shares in their suffering. He is fully aware when we give to meet the needs of those less fortunate just as he is aware when we do not. Trust me, no gift given out of a sincere heart is ever forgotten by our Heavenly Father.

Think about it for a moment. God is so concerned for those who are brokenhearted, oppressed, poor, afflicted & needy; that anyone who steps up to meet their needs will find God himself there to repay and reward. When we are kind to the poor, God promises to repay that debt himself. What is there to lose? When we give, so many good things happen. Needs are met, our hearts are changed & God shows up.

Find a way to help someone in need today ... God is longing to repay whatever debt is incurred. Make a donation online to help the many needy that we work with everyday. God Bless!

A Donation To Remember

Shared Blessings has now started a prison ministry. Well, not really, but we have had the opportunity to work with some "trustees" from the county jail. They have been invaluable in helping us get all the work done in our warehouse each day.

A few weeks ago, after spending the afternoon packing up bags of food for children, one of the trustees named Dillon approached us with a $10 bill and said, "I want you to have this. I have everything I need and I want to help all these people." It was quite a humbling experience. When someone, who has very little, is moved to give to others, it can't help but have an effect on you.

This donation really made me think. It seems, most of the time, that my giving is simply out of my abundance. What could be accomplished if I truly gave sacrificially? What needs would be met? What would change in my heart? That's why it was such a donation to remember!

Nutrtion Club Packing Party

On Sunday afternoon, approx 15 people from one of Life churches small groups came out to pack food for the 100 kids that we now feed every week. I would use 3 words to describe the night ... fast, fellowship & faithful. Packing 400 bags of food is a fast and furious assembly line process. Once it begins, everyone is in perpetual motion. The fellowship that begins to happen is awesome. When we work together in serving others, true fellowship begins to break out. Faithful would be the final word I would use. It's exciting to see people being faithful in meeting the needs of others.

I want to thank Ron DeGiacomo and his Life Group for coming out and spending an hour preparing these bags of food for each child. It was a great night.

If you would like to be a part of packing bags of food for the nutrition club, email me at scott@sharedblessings.tv. Check out more about the nutrition club by selecting the "Ministries" tab.

Defending the Defenseless!

"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress ..."

God is a defender of the defenseless! We are called to do the same. Religion or spirituality is not as much about how many church services we attend as it is about how we react to those in need. Our Christianity is evidenced by our heart for people, especially those who need protection.

One of our goals here at Shared Blessings is to provide for those who can't provide for themselves, which is why the Nutrition Club has taken such a priority. Children are always the innocent victims of the circumstances around them. Too many children in our society are having to "fend" for themselves. When children, who are basically defenseless, have to find a way to survive without the protection of parents/guardians who love them, they are changed forever.

What can be done? We can find ways to step in and fill the gaps in their life. Families can become foster parents or adopt. Churches can place a major emphasis upon programs towards children, especially the unchurched and needy. Ministries like Shared Blessings can step up to meet their physical needs such as clothing and food. Teachers can become mentors to those who have none.

We can and we must! Are you defending the cause of the defenseless?
